Children's Book

Wendy’s Day Out is a story I illustrated and wrote to
encourage children from ages 4-5 years to enjoy going
places and teaching them to be obedient. It covers
going to school, the store, and a friend’s house. It
illustrates a small whale that is the main character with
other side characters in a fictional underwater land. The
illustrations comprise of simple line drawings with small
shadows to create space and depth. The drawings are
simple and have a childish feel, similar to how children
draw, which is usually not very developed compared
to a skilled artist. I took inspiration from a drawing of a
whale I drew when I was a child. I used the typeface
Comic Sans for an easy to read experience without any
confusing letter-forms for new readers. I chose vibrant
colors to encourage that the ocean is a colorful place
and children enjoy bright happy colors.
